Scottish Rental Prices Are Rising

The private rental market in Scotland continues to go from strength to strength, with rents rising across much of the country, led by gains in Aberdeen, fresh figures show.

Citylets’ quarterly Scottish rental market report, based on more than 50,000 annual lettings from more than 400 agents, reveals that average monthly private rentals increased by just over 3.1 per cent in the second quarter of this year – outstripping inflation.

Dan Cookson, Senior Analyst with the residential letting website Citylets, said: “The Scottish rental market has certainly warmed up this summer with increases in volumes and prices of rental property at both the national level and city level. This increased demand for rental property has also been seen in Citylets’ site traffic with 20 per cent more visitors in the first half of 2013 compared to 2012.”
